This is not all, at McFall Masonry and Construction we repair cracked mortar, cracked brick, cracked stone. When repairing mortar, often called repointing, it’s important that the mortar is removed, not just patched over. In the beginning it will look the same, but 6 months down the road, when the ‘patch’ job is starting to fall out, wear out, etc. The mortar that was removed and new mortar installed with compressive strength mortar will still be there, looking great like it did when installed. All of this is important, please ask questions, do not think all contractors will do the repair the same way.
Brick cracks can often be repaired rather than replaced. The cost difference is enormous. Often contractors will not tell you that brick can be repaired. To give an example, you may have a few bricks that are cracked, a repair to the bricks may cost $275, to replace those same few cracked bricks, could cost well over $1000. This is a much greater cost, and often it’s a wasted extra cost. The brick repair will usually stay in place, it will be almost invisible to the average person that the brick was repaired, it just makes sense.
Concrete repairs are much harder to repair and look good, If your gray concrete has cracks, yet the concrete is still level, the crack has stayed very thin, often it’s worth it to just leave it alone, the repair will often stick out more than the hairline crack. Stamped concrete is much easier to repair and looks good, this is because of the different textures of the concrete and the multiple colors.
