Spring is Fast Approaching

Spring is upon us in North Texas, or so it seems. At McFall Masonry and Construction we’ve noticed that even though it’s February, springtime thinking is upon us. Its been a very mild winter thus far, especially compared to the last several years where we’ve had 4 months of freezing temperatures, snow, ice and just plain cold, cold weather. In years past, it has been difficult to get a running start on the spring season until April and sometimes even later. This year, although we have had our share of very cold, wintery weather, we’ve also had our share of great warm weather. Today is February 10, 2015 and it’s currently 73 degrees. As Texans we love this kind of weather. Yes, we’ll complain come August, but that’s the Texan way–complain when it’s cold and curse the 110 degree heat that can hit us for 40 days. That being said, this is the typical North Texas type weather that I know and love.

With so many people getting ready for their yearly home improvement, McFall Masonry and Construction would like to remind you to please have all your preparation work completed ahead of time. This will save so much time when you are ready to hire McFall Masonry and Construction, or any contractor, for your projects.

It’s important to read up on your HOA rules and guidelines to make sure what you want to do is allowed. Submit the necessary paperwork to your HOA for approval. Sometimes this process doesn’t take very long, but some HOAs take weeks for approvals. Once approved, you can receive estimates, decide on your contractor, (hopefully McFall Masonry and Construction), hire your contractor and get started as soon as possible. If you are looking to get your project completed quickly, then act quickly. Typically when we’re hired, if all ducks are in a row, we can get started fairly quickly.

Another important factor is knowing what you want. This can be difficult and sometimes takes assistance from the contractor, but do as much as you can to understand styles, stone, concrete styles, outdoor kitchen styles, etc.  Please, with all due respect, if both you and your spouse are meeting with us, make sure that you are both in agreement. At McFall Masonry and Construction we have experienced many marital arguments when we are there to bid a project, and both people had different ideas. Sometimes the disagreement can escalate and it can be very uncomfortable for us.

We look forward to being of service to you in completing your projects this year. Also look for the expansion of our company at mcfallconstruction.com, coming soon.
